THE WINCHESTER STAR

Students seek 'Fame'

Thursday, July 21, 2005

For years, Winchester Cooperative Theatre has been producing wonderful shows combining aspects of music, drama, and choreography. This year, Winchester Co-op Summer Program is presenting "Fame the Musical." For the past two weeks - with two more to go - students entering grades three through nine have been learning musical numbers and scenes from Fame, while rehearsing small skits for weekly Friday performances.

"The summer program is fun because it enables us to broaden our acting skills. The weekly skits give us confidence to be on stage and prepare us for Fame," said Meg Dunn, a ninth grader.

Abby O'Donnell commented, "Fame is fun because it combines singing, dancing, and music, and that is what I likes to do."

Fame is a show about perseverance. It follows the lives of several teenagers as they strive to succeed in a competitive performing arts high school. When asked about Fame, Rebecca Greaves said, "It's fun because it has a realistic plot and it is something I can relate to."

Fame will be performed Thursday and Friday, July 28 and 29 at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Lincoln School, and tickets will be available at the door.
