"FAME- the Musical" brings the fun and flair of the 80's to the Palace stage January 7-8 at 7 p.m. in a joint venture presented by the Central Community Players and the Palace Theater.

"FAME" tells the story of a group of teens in New York City's High School of Performing Arts from 1980 to 1984. Many characters have complicated sub-stories such as the beautiful but shy actress Serena Katz (Arielle Kaplan)'s tumultuous relationship with serious student Nick Piazza (Joe Lavoie), hot Latina Carmen Diaz (Kaleigh Cronin)'s struggle with drugs, brilliantly comedic Mabel Washington (Julia Duffy)'s love of food while trying to be a dancer, and illiterate Tony Smagoula (Adam Sarette) attempting to make it through high school.

High energy dance numbers like "Hard Work", "Fame", and "Dancing on the Sidewalk" will have the audience grooving along with the performers, while powerful songs such as "Think of Meryl Streep" and "I Want to Make Magic" will tug on the emotions of those listening. For the kid in all of us, the comedy songs, "Can't Keep it Cool" and "Mabel's Prayer" will keep the audience in stitches.

The Central Community Players has produced quality theater for five years and performed shows such as "West Side Story" (2001), "The Music Man" (2003), and "Grease" (2004). All of the talented performers are students who attend Manchester Central High School. Some have also acted with the Palace Professional Company, so the audience can expect a high quality performance.

The show is directed by the Palace's resident director Carl Rajotte, who also directed in New York City, musically directed by Nashua's Julie Oliver Babb, and choreographed by Carl Rajotte and Dawn Lebrecht.

Tickets for "FAME- the Musical" can be purchased through the Palace box office at (603) 668-5588 ($17 for adults, $12 for seniors, and $8 for students).
