Highland Middle School to present ‘Fame! Jr.’
Mar 5, 2016

The Highland Middle School is proud to announce this year’s spring musical “Fame! Jr.” The multi-talented cast will take the stage at the Highland High School Auditorium (4150 Ridge Road, Medina) from Thursday, March 10 through Saturday, March 12. All performances will take place at 7 p.m.

“Fame! Jr.” brings drama, music and dance to life. The production is set in the 1980s, during the last years of New York City’s celebrated High School for the Performing Arts. It follows the inspiring story of a diverse group of students as they commit to four years of grueling artistic and academic work in order to achieve their dream of putting their “name in lights.” As the story unfolds through humor and song, the students discover it takes much more than talent to achieve their goals. With help from their teachers, they are guided through triumphs and disappointments until they find their true artistic voices. Ultimately, they learn that although there are many set backs on the road to stardom, they must follow their dreams to achieve fame.

“We have over 138 students involved in this production. They are handling everything from the costumes and makeup to the lighting and set building. They are working hard every day to make this a fantastic show,” said Emily Miller, director. “We hope that the community is able to come out and support us, we are quite proud of the students as they have all come a long way from the first day of rehearsal.”

Each year, the Highland Middle School has staged a musical production such as this for the community. The productions are sponsored by the Highland Choir Boosters and made possible through countless hours of volunteer help. “We are so lucky to have great volunteers who help nurture the creative abilities of our students in the Highland School district. We would not be able to attempt a production of this size without their generous time and effort,” stated Miller.

Tickets for “Fame! Jr.” are currently available to the general public through www.showtix4u.com (search Highland Choir Boosters). Tickets are $8 for general admission; $5 for students; and children under 5 are free. Tickets may also be purchased at the event with limited seating available.
