OK look I know there is a recession…. we’ve been having it rammed down our throats for long enough!

But life goes on….. and just look at what’s going on in Dublin despite this!!!!

Dublin’s newly opened Grand Canal Theatre is beyond doubt the best theatre I have ever had the pleasure to have visited. I was lucky enough to have had a pre-opening tour of this amazing Daniel Libeskind designed venue. You couldn’t make it up, this is an unbelievable building…… With a capacity of a whopping 2,111 the Grand Canal Theatre is one of the largest theatres in Europe, and in terms of modern design and architecture, this is by far and away the coolest building in Ireland!! Perhaps the coolest new building in Europe?

So what’s on at the Grand Canal theatre????

Well just some of the highlights over the next few months are

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Fame the Musical
The Rocky Horror Show
Hairspray

And that is by no means all…… The theatre also makes a stunning concert venue and will host the Russian State Ballet early next year!

So now in addition to the fantastic selection of small and medium sized theatre venues, Dublin can at last host shows that will attract a truly international audience and so compete with London’s West End and with Broadway!!!
