Set in New York’s legendary High School of the Performing Arts, Fame The Musical tells of the hopes and dreams of aspiring stars in their quest for success.

This year the transition and fifth year students are in rehearsals and soon to be staging the musical. The show runs from March 4-7, at 8pm each night in Inver College.

Inspired by the Academy Award winning film, Fame is a roller coaster ride through the dreams and disappointments of the star-struck pupils attending the High School for the Performing Arts.

It is also a best-selling novel and a long running television series, and follows the inspiring tale of performing arts students from their over-elaborate entrance auditions to their well-polished graduations. Accompany them on their emotional ride through pleasure, pain, discovery and loss in this starry musical.

Romances and friendships develop as the story makes a social statement especially relevant to the youth of today. Non-stop, high energy routines with a full cast of more than 45 make Fame a breathtaking stage show.

It promises to be a night filled with dazzling performances from Gerard McCabe and Sarah Hand as Nick and Serena. The glittering performances of Carmen and Schlomo (Ann Marie Fox and Patrick Carolan) are also to watch out for. The show is directed and choreographed by Gavin Quigley and the musical director is Jacqueline McGovern.
