FORMER Corrie star Bruno Langley, star of stage and screen Bernie Nolan and HearSay's Noel Sullivan will be taking to the stage at the Mayflower this summer with the world premiere production of Flashdance - The Musical.

Based on the Paramount Pictures film Flashdance, the musical, set in Pittsburgh, USA, tells the story of 18-year-old Alex, a welder by day and flashdancer' by night, whose dream is to obtain a place at the prestigious Shipley Dance Academy.

Taking the lead of Alex Owens will be Victoria Hamilton-Barrit, whose West End theatre credits include Mamma Mia, Fame and Desperately Seeking Susan.

Bruno Langley will play Jimmy. Bruno is probably best known for playing Todd Grimshaw in Coronation Street.

His other credits include Doctor Who and the film The League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse.

Bernie Nolan, best known as the lead singer of the Nolan Sisters, will play Hannah Owens. Her theatre credits include Mrs Johnstone in Blood Brothers and Mum's the Word on tour. Television credits include playing Diane Murray in Brookside for two years and Sergeant Shelagh Murphy in ITV1's The Bill.

Noel Sullivan, one fifth of record-breaking pop band Hear'say, whose musical theatre credits include Danny in Grease and Nick in Fame, will also star.

The score includes Maniac, Manhunt, Gloria, I Love Rock and Roll and the Academy award winning title track Flashdance - What a Feeling.

Arlene Phillips will be choreographing .
