FAME - The Musical is "gonna live forever" at the Players Theatre.

The Players Theatre opens its 77th Broadway Musical Season with FAME - The Musical. Set during the last years of New York City's celebrated High School for the Performing Arts on 46th Street, this play is the bittersweet but ultimately inspiring story of a diverse group of students as they commit to four years of grueling artistic and academic work. With humor, candor and insight, the show explores the issues that confront many young people today: issues of prejudice, indentity, self-worth, literacy, sexuality, substance abuse and going for the goal.
FAME - The Musical is directed and choreographed by Thomas Dewayne Barrett. He is a veteran of productions of such shows as "Crazy for You" and "Cats" at the Golden Apple, "Damn Yankees," "A Chorus Line," and The Players 76th season opener of "Grease." Barrett has assembled a talented cast of 30 actors, singers, dancers, and musicians to fill the stage with youthful energy. "This talented cast will explode on stage with high energy singing and dancing," says Barrett.

Tickets are $23 for adults and $12 for students. Group discounts are available for parties of 12 or more. For tickets and information please call The Players Theatre at (941) 365-2494.
