WHAT IS IT: "Fame - The Musical" is based on the 1980 film and television show of the same nae. The film was both a commercial and critical success, taking home an Academy Award. The success of the film led to the TV show, which lasted for six seasons. The premise of "Fame" revolves around the lives of kids in New York's School for the Performing Arts. The show was conceived and developed by David De Silva, with a book by Jose Fernandez, music by Steve Margoshes and lyrics by Jacques Levy.
