Chilton pupils capture imaginations with Fame performance

3rd February 2009
By Rory McKeown

ARGUABLY one of the most popular musicals of all time was given the Chilton Trinity Technology College treatment last week.

Talented pupils from years nine, ten and 11 slipped into leggings and leotards to produce their very own, and fantastic, rendition of the classic 70s musical Fame.

The musical, which is based on the 1980 film by Alan Parker, featured all the famous songs such as Hard Work and Bring on Tomorrow, and saw the pupils transform into high-flying mode with breathtaking jumps, twists and turns.

Fame follows the journey of energetic young students from varying cultures and ethnicities in a performing arts school in New York city.

The story focuses on the tough issues faced by young people as they deal with the weight of expectations placed on them, the importance of academic achievement and issues with drugs and dyslexia - all the while dreaming that one day they will become famous.
